Not every AI agent deserves the same level of governance
Not every AI agent deserves the same level of governance.
That's one of the biggest mistakes I'm seeing in enterprise AI thinking.
Consider three agents:
Agent A: summarizes documents.
Agent B: recommends pricing changes.
Agent C: changes records in your ERP.
Should all three have the same controls?
Absolutely not.
The more autonomy and business impact an agent has, the stronger the controls should become.
Think:
Observe → Advise → Act with Approval → Act Autonomously
Governance should scale with risk and autonomy.
Too much governance kills productivity.
Too little governance creates unacceptable risk.
The answer isn't "lock everything down."
It's risk-proportional autonomy.
