Every enterprise adopting AI agents needs a new layer in its architecture.
I call it the Agent Control Plane.
It should answer five questions:
Who is the agent?
What data can it access?
What systems can it change?
What decisions can it make autonomously?
Who is accountable for its actions?
This is bigger than model governance.
It's about governing the runtime behavior of digital workers.
Gartner's latest guidance is moving in exactly this direction: inventory, identity, permissions, lifecycle, information governance and behavioral monitoring.
The companies that treat agents like "just another application" are going to struggle.
Agents aren't applications.
They behave more like digital employees with APIs.
And that changes everything.
